Financial Consultant

• Lead the transition of financial reporting practices from cash-based methods toward an accrual accounting framework
• Oversee monthly and periodic close activities
• Evaluate project accounting processes and track work in progress using percentage-of-completion
• Review capital improvement spending to determine proper balance sheet treatment and fixed asset classification
• Build forecasts and financial models that incorporate selling, general, and administrative expenses
• Analyze overhead structure and operating costs
• Partner with internal staff to establish stronger financial procedures, documentation standards, and departmental workflows
• Manage reporting through QuickBooks Contractor/Premier and help optimize accounting processes
• Provide financial insight related to business value, profitability trends, and strategic planning

• Strong experience with accrual accounting in a senior-level accounting capacity
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Premier or the contractor-focused version of QuickBooks
• Hands-on knowledge of work in progress accounting and percentage-of-completion reporting
• Background supporting construction, remodeling, or project-based businesses with complex job costing needs
• Ability to develop forecasts, analyze SG&A expenses, and translate financial data into actionable recommendations
• Experience creating or improving standard operating procedures and internal accounting controls
• Solid understanding of balance sheet management, including capitalization of building or showroom improvement costs
