We are looking for a Financial and Advisor Specialist to support students as they navigate academic planning and funding-related questions in Maine. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who combines strong customer-facing experience with the ability to provide clear, practical guidance on educational programs and career pathways. The person in this role will work closely with students to help them make informed decisions while delivering detail-oriented, office-based support to the advising team.
Job Responsibility
Guide students through course planning and registration decisions based on their academic goals
Respond to financial aid inquiries by explaining processes, timelines, and available support options in a clear manner
Provide information on academic programs and discuss how they align with potential career outcomes
Deliver high-quality service through phone and in-person interactions, ensuring students receive timely assistance
Support advising operations by handling account-related tasks, payment-related questions, and general administrative coordination
Maintain accurate records and follow established procedures to help the advising team operate efficiently
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required
Previous experience in sales, customer support, or another client-facing environment
Familiarity with student financial aid concepts and the ability to explain them clearly
Strong verbal communication skills with a courteous and detail-oriented phone manner
Ability to manage administrative tasks with accuracy and attention to detail
Comfortable working on-site in an office setting
Capable of assisting students with empathy and sound judgment
