Reporting to both the Finance and HR functions, you will support a rapidly growing startup with financial integrity, bookkeeping, data entry, internal reporting, benefits administration and HRIS administration. This role has a high probably of evolution and growth and is perfect for someone interested in VP-backed or high-growth companies. In this unique opportunity, you will gain great exposure to many aspects of business operations and human resources. We are looking for someone who is passionate, adaptable, and willing to grow. Initially, this role will handle various aspects of the financial and HR functions from employee benefits management, HRIS, bookkeeping, and monthly close. You will be responsible for helping to optimize the use of the information flow software stack (marketing to sales to finance to operations). Eventually, you will be looked upon to support decision making and business strategy through the insights you provide from financial and HR data.
Job Responsibility:
Drive profitability through maintenance, interpretation & analysis of financial data
Collect, synthesize, and transform financial information into actionable insights
Work with functional leaders and attend internal and external project meetings to support decision making with maintenance, interpretation & analysis of financial data
Ensure revenue accuracy and cost management and provide reports on financial and performance measures on both a recurring and ad-hoc basis
Ensure accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
Ensure all financial transactions roll up into reporting
Develop forecasts, budgets and analyses
Develop and manage strong collaborative relationships with functional leaders across the company to build scalable processes and drive best practices
Leverage accounting software and tools to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and maintain accurate financial records
Adhere to compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and reporting requirements
Maintain information security within area of the organization
Maintain a healthy and conducive HRIS environment within Paylocity
Together with USI, administer employee benefits ensuring alignment between various carriers and systems
Tend to COBRA, FSA, Global Mobility, and other one-off benefits that are administered in-house
Manage MI New Jobs Training Program through collaboration with Schoolcraft college, MI Dept of Treasury, and Paylocity, including recordkeeping, tax deferrals, and funds administration
Provide benefits employee data reporting upon request
Requirements:
Bachelor’s in Finance, Accounting, HR, Business, Economics, or equivalent work experience
3+ years of experience with financial statement preparation, controllership, and accounting function in a startup environment
3+ years of relevant HR experience managing HRIS and benefits
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Paylocity or another HRIS implementation experience required
Strong business sense with service industry experience and understanding of profitability drivers preferred
Ability to think strategically, synthesize complex business/financial data and develop solutions
Strong financial analysis skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex financial data
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast paced startup environment
A positive and adaptable self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively
Great interpersonal skills and desire to support other team members
Experience with Project Management tools such as Monday.com
