Job Description

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to support a nonprofit organization in Nashville, Tennessee through a contract-to-permanent opportunity. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can combine strong analytical skills with accurate accounting support to help maintain reliable reporting and informed decision-making. The position will contribute to core financial operations, including close activities, grant-related tracking, and statement preparation, while working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate results.

Job Responsibility

  • Manage month-end close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure financial records are complete and accurate
  • Perform bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to maintain the integrity of cash reporting
  • Record accruals and journal entries in accordance with accounting standards and organizational policies
  • Support grant accounting processes by tracking funding activity, monitoring restrictions, and assisting with accurate reporting for nonprofit programs
  • Prepare financial statements and related schedules to provide clear visibility into organizational performance
  • Conduct variance reviews and ad hoc financial analysis to identify trends, explain results, and support planning discussions
  • Use financial modeling and data analysis techniques to evaluate information and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and decision support
  • Partner with accounting and finance team members to improve reporting accuracy and deliver timely financial insights.

Requirements

  • Experience in financial analysis and accounting support within a detail-focused finance environment
  • Working knowledge of month-end close processes, including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation
  • Hands-on experience preparing financial statements and analyzing operating results
  • Familiarity with grant accounting, preferably within a nonprofit setting
  • Proficiency with Yardi or similar financial systems
  • Strong skills in variance analysis, financial modeling, and ad hoc reporting
  • Ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and communicate findings clearly
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
