Job Description:

We are currently partnering with a State Government client to recruit a professional Finance Business Analyst (ASO5) for an initial three-month contract, with a possibility of extension. This role is pivotal in supporting the department’s financial oversight, requiring a candidate who can blend technical financial expertise with the ability to influence senior decision-makers. Primary Focus: The core objective of this position is to provide comprehensive financial oversight regarding Vehicle and Building Repairs & Maintenance. The successful candidate will investigate historical data and budget variances to ensure transparency and provide the department with actionable financial intelligence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform detailed analysis of historical expenditure, specifically focused on repairs and maintenance portfolios
  • Investigate and report on budget variances, providing clear justifications and identifying underlying trends
  • Prepare and present formal briefings, ensuring complex financial data is accessible and clear for management and executive stakeholders
  • Utilise General Ledger systems to extract and manipulate data, ensuring a high standard of data integrity

Requirements:

  • Up to five years of experience in financial analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUPs)
  • Experience with Basware or comparable General Ledger systems is highly regarded
  • A tertiary degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant discipline
  • Exceptional soft skills with a proven ability to brief senior executives and present data with clarity and professionalism
  • A current National Police Clearance is a mandatory requirement

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience within a government framework
  • CPA/CA desirable
