We are looking for an entry-level Financial Analyst to join our team on a contract basis in Walnut Creek, California. This role will provide essential support during the busy tax season, focusing on financial documentation and tax preparation tasks. Job Responsibility:
Organize and review client tax documents, ensuring all necessary information is included
Calculate itemized deductions such as medical expenses, Medicare premiums, and assisted living costs
Prepare and assemble complete tax packets for final review and filing
Ensure consistency by referencing prior year tax returns and identifying recurring items
Analyze and organize key tax forms, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, and brokerage statements
Track income sources, capital gains, and pass-through income accurately
Utilize established checklists to maintain compliance and completeness
Maintain detailed records and documentation for all client files
Navigate Excel spreadsheets effectively, including the use of Pivot Tables
Use company software to manage files and streamline processing
Requirements:
Previous experience in tax preparation or support roles
Strong knowledge of individual tax forms, including K-1s and 1099s
Familiarity with income reporting, capital gains, and itemized deductions
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to follow structured processes and work within deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic navigation and Pivot Tables
Nice to have:
Familiarity with tax preparation software is a plus
