The Capital Management & Special Projects Controller Group team is looking for an innovative, forward-thinking, detail-oriented analyst to join their team. The Fixed Asset & Special Project Finance Analyst is responsible for understanding GM's end-to-end fixed asset processes including operations, systems, financials, and the related control environment. The role requires a high level of initiative, judgment, decision making, and serving as a strategic business partner across the enterprise to bring timely and insighted decisions.
Job Responsibility:
Coordinate, monitor and analyze results of GM's global fixed asset processes
Support and collaborate with Global Business Solutions (GBS) fixed asset team to ensure compliance with APM requirements, effective controls and accurate reporting
Analysis and reporting of month-end capital and PP&E balances including global PP&E, capital accruals and associated P&L impacts
Navigate and understand various systems impacting fixed assets including eSAP, eTools, ITD transformation, Global Ledger, FINCORE, GCARS/OneStream, etc.
Support and review the General Motors Specialty Vehicles statutory audit processes, collaborating with the Statutory CoE, tax and GM's external auditors
Utilize new technologies and solutions to create more robust controls, process efficiencies and impactful reporting packages
Presentation of financial results to other members of the organization including leadership
Assist with special projects and ad hoc requests
Develop strong relationship with business partners support requests/inquiries including Controllership, Finance, IT and various other operational partners
Maintain controls and work with Financial Assurance and external auditors to support audit requirements, streamline existing business processes and develop new/enhanced control procedures

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, business or related field
2+ years of relevant experience (preferred)
Public accounting firm experience (preferred)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) (preferred)
Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to understand and apply accounting and financial reporting standards (US GAAP)
Ability to prioritize assignments/projects, take on additional responsibilities and deliver within restricted time constraints
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork and partnerships

Develop a detailed understanding of GM's processes and systems to identify control gaps and any opportunities to streamline processes and controls
Assist with internal and external financial reporting, including analyzing consolidated results, drafting SEC documents and management review reports
Research and interpret new accounting standards and brainstorm how each apply to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements
Support strategic initiatives and transformation activities focused on empowering our all-electric future
Develop analytics and tools to provide insights into the results for business units and regions
Recommend types of automations, analytics, and data processing approaches to meet business objectives
Initiate and support enhancements that improve the quality and speed of the monthly close process
Resolve complex accounting issues impacting strategic business initiatives and identify potential accounting risks
