We are looking for a dedicated Financial Aid Advisor to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia. In this role, you will serve as a vital point of contact for students and learners, providing guidance on financial aid and payment options while ensuring a seamless and positive experience. This is a Contract to permanent position that offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting individuals in navigating their educational journey. The Financial Aid Advisor position is an entry level role. Looking for someone with great customer service experience, prior experience working with customers in an office setting or call center environment. Very strong in MS Office Suite skills.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assess callers' needs and deliver tailored solutions in alignment with team processes and university policies
  • Guide students through financing options, university policies, and various payment methods to ensure clarity and satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Financial Aid Advisors to support daily operations and improve the student experience
  • Handle both outbound outreach and inbound inquiries to maintain efficient queue management
  • Work closely with team members, contributing to discussions, coaching sessions, and providing constructive feedback
  • Document and maintain accurate records in collaboration with Financial Aid Advisors to support learners effectively
  • Partner with the Financial Aid Support Team to identify trends and address underlying issues impacting students
  • Meet established call metrics and performance objectives, ensuring timely and quality interactions
  • Engage students through collection campaigns to encourage action on outstanding balances
  • Process payments and update student records accurately while adhering to procedural guidelines

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in customer service, preferably in a call center environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and Excel for efficient data management and communication
  • Strong typing and data entry skills with attention to accuracy and detail
  • Ability to effectively handle multi-line phone systems and manage high call volumes
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering personalized solutions
  • Knowledge of financial aid processes and regulations is highly desirable
  • Capability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced and evolving work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and foster positive relationships with students and colleagues
