We are looking for a Financial & Accounting Analyst to join a mission-driven non-profit organization in Monterey, California. This role supports financial reporting, budgeting, audit readiness, and analytical projects that help leaders make informed decisions across the organization. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, useful insights for a range of stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Partner with managers and department leaders to evaluate revenue performance, spending patterns, and capital activity across the organization
Gather information from accounting and reporting platforms, interpret results, and deliver meaningful financial insights to leadership and operational teams
Contribute to annual audit preparation by assembling schedules, addressing auditor inquiries, and helping keep the process on track
Produce quarterly financial statements, review supporting records, and help ensure accuracy and completeness in reporting
Manage accounting activities related to debt obligations and bond transactions, including reconciliations and required compliance documentation
Maintain lease accounting records in alignment with applicable reporting standards and organizational policies
Build financial analyses, dashboards, forecasts, and presentation materials to support executive and board-level decision-making
Support budgeting, long-range planning, cash flow monitoring, payroll reconciliations, cost allocation analysis, and the ongoing improvement of internal controls and accounting procedures
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a closely related role
Demonstrated strength in financial analysis, financial modeling, variance analysis, and ad hoc reporting
Experience working with accounting data and using analytical methods to identify trends, issues, and opportunities
Knowledge of accounting principles and financial practices relevant to non-profit or governmental environments
Ability to prepare clear financial reports, reconcile complex transactions, and maintain a high level of accuracy
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders
Proficiency with spreadsheet-based analysis, reporting tools, and financial information systems
Capability to manage multiple priorities independently while providing responsive, service-oriented support
