The Financial Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the Finance function at MDPI by maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely month-end closings, compliance with local accounting standards and supporting global financial reporting. The role focuses on financial accounting, reconciliations, VAT compliance, and financial process improvements. As a Financial Accountant, you will collaborate closely with the global finance team and external accounting providers.
Job Responsibility:
Independent organisation and ownership of assigned accounting tasks
Maintain complete and accurate bookkeeping in line with Polish GAAP and internal group accounting policies
Handle tax settlements (CIT-8, VAT) and ensure correct VAT treatment of all transactions
Actively participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
Prepare and ensure timely, accurate financial statements and management reports
Prepare, review, and coordinate account reconciliations for AR, AP, and GL
Support the preparation of audit schedules and liaise with internal and external auditors
Ensure T&E expenses are recorded in line with internal cost policies
Collaborate closely with the local Finance team and Office Manager to optimise financial processes and support budgeting activities
Maintain ongoing communication with the employer and cooperate with internal departments
Ad-hoc financial tasks which may be given from time to time
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Statistics, Business Economics, Quantitative Finance, or equivalent
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in an international environment
Knowledge of Polish accounting standards, VAT regulations and experience working with external accounting providers
Strong analytical thinking, a structured approach to work
Experience with Polish accounting systems (such as Enova365, or similar is a plus)
Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent attention to detail
Good communication skills in English and Polish (written and spoken)
Nice to have:
Polish accounting certification (or professional course) is a plus
