Financial Accountant

• Deliver timely and accurate month-end and year-end financial accounts
• Lead on balance sheet reconciliations, payroll postings and control accounts
• Supervise the sales and purchase ledger processes
• Support audit and statutory reporting requirements, including SORP accounts, VAT and Gift Aid
• Review and strengthen financial controls and policies
• Assist with maintaining asset registers and investment records
• Contribute to process and system improvements

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or finalist
• Strong experience in financial accounting and controls
• Experience in a complex charity, higher education, or research-led environment
• Proven track record in preparing financial and statutory accounts, reconciliations and reports
• Strong technical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
• Proactive approach to improving processes, systems and financial governance
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines and deliver to a high standard
