Provider Risk Analytics Intern (Finance) - 2026 Summer Internship Program Healthfirst’s 2026 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 1, 2026. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions. The Provider Risk Analytics Intern in Finance will support the Provider Risk Analytics Team in performing functions that enable key business processes and practices. The Provider Risk Analytics Intern will contribute to a broad set of projects across the department.
Job Responsibility:
Develop an understanding of the Healthfirst overall business and risk model, with a focus on how to support provider organizations to improve financial performance and how value-based care can drive improved outcomes
Attend internal and external provider meetings to develop an understanding of how the Provider Risk Analytics work fits into the larger Healthfirst enterprise strategy
Perform analysis and data projects to begin to develop an understanding of how to monitor cost and revenue trends, use analytics and various types of healthcare data to identify improvement opportunities, and model and communicate impact to providers
Requirements:
Degree or currently enrolled in Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Math, Statistics, Economics or related programs
Undergraduate students must be junior or senior at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program. Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program.
Will not require sponsorship for employment
Eligible to work in the U.S.
Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA from an accredited school
Nice to have:
Degree or currently enrolled in Finance, Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Math, Statistics, Economics or related programs
Knowledge of SQL based applications and Tableau
Work experience with Microsoft Excel - create pivot tables, formatting, sorting, create spreadsheets with complex formulas such as v-look ups.
Self-motivated, creative problem solver who can work independently and collaborate through strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience managing projects
Knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare programs
Knowledge of healthcare data (claims, diagnosis, and procedure codes, etc.)
