Job Description:

This fantastic role sits within the Finance Operations section of the finance team, responsible for delivery of the Council’s daily provision of bank reconciliations and income processing as well as supporting the Finance Operations Manager in team supervision.

Job Responsibility:

  • Perform bank reconciliations for the General Bank account (income), investigating and resolving discrepancies within agreed timescales
  • Responsible for the income processing function using the Access Income Management System (AIM) to ensure records are correct and maximizing efficiencies and automation
  • Process cheques (and other income) when required
  • Liaise with services within the Council to ensure AIM system is being used correctly and meeting needs as well as providing any training that may be required
  • Identifying ways to improve the bank reconciliation process to reduce discrepancies requiring adjustment
  • Supervise and direct work for members of the Finance Operations Team and supporting the Finance Operations Manager to address any issues
  • Support the Finance Operations Manager to identify opportunities to improve ways of working
  • Deputise for the Finance Operations Manager at management meetings when required

Requirements:

  • Proven experience of providing complex bank reconciliations for high volume and wide-ranging income processes
  • Proven experience of operating income processing systems
  • Previous Local Government experience is preferred, but not essential
  • You will be able to work both independently and collaboratively, with great self-organisation skills and demonstrate excellent attention to detail
  • You will work well as part of a team, with a flexible and a positive attitude, and the ability to prioritise to meet deadlines
  • You will have experience of developing working relationships and have strong verbal and written communication skills to share information about financial matters effectively
