Job Description:

Do you want to dive deep into the financial engine room of a fast-growing FinTech? At Capital on Tap, we move fast, experiment often, and use data to solve real problems for small businesses. We're looking for a Finance Operations Manager who is excited to build, optimise, and continuously improve the financial operations that keep our business running smoothly. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, you’ll own and elevate our day-to-day financial operations across the group. You’ll have the freedom to identify inefficiencies, test new ideas, and implement scalable solutions - so we can move faster with greater accuracy and control. This role is ideal for someone who loves solving problems with data and isn’t afraid to get hands-on with SQL to automate and improve processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversee core financial operations including payroll, accounts payable, and customer account reconciliations
  • Own the month-end close process and deliver clear, insightful analysis to senior leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of part-qualified and qualified accountants, acting as a trusted business partner across the organisation
  • Coordinate strategic finance activities such as debt sales, regulatory reporting, and the annual external audit
  • Design, test, and implement improvements to our systems, policies, and internal controls
  • Use SQL and advanced Excel to build reporting, automate reconciliation processes, and enhance data accuracy
  • Support the Financial Controller with strategic initiatives and fast-paced, analytical projects

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in financial operations, with a strong understanding of controls, reconciliations, and system integrity
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to write SQL for reporting and analysis i.e. comfortable working directly with data to solve problems
  • A proactive, experimental mindset: you’re excited to make things better, test new ideas, and move quickly
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial information for non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with experience mentoring or managing a team being an advantage
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, stay organised, and deliver under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a genuine passion for accuracy and continual improvement
