Job Description

Brook Street are partnering with a leading independent group in Monmouth to recruit an Finance Officer to support the smooth running of a busy finance function. This is a great opportunity for someone with solid accounting experience to step into a broad, hands-on role with variety and visibility.

Job Responsibility

  • Bank and cash reconciliations for the main organisation and its trading company
  • Assisting with cashflow management and administration of pre-paid cards
  • Departmental budget monitoring and reporting across academic, support cost centres and house funds
  • Preparing ad hoc financial reports and analysis for management as required
  • General ledger reconciliations and control account administration, including income stream reconciliations
  • Inter-company cross charging between the main organisation and trading company
  • Providing cover and assistance with the day-to-day accounting requirements of the trading company
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with routine accounting and payroll activities
  • Offering general support and cover across the wider finance team when needed
  • Liaising with departments across the organisation to ensure accurate and complete financial information
  • Handling incoming queries (phone, email and in person) in a professional and friendly manner

Requirements

  • A recognised accounting qualification at minimum AAT Level 4 (or equivalent), part qualified ACCA/ACA/CIMA, or qualified by more than ample experience
  • At least 2-3 years' experience in a relevant accounting role with solid exposure to day-to-day finance operations
  • Strong understanding of accounting processes, including general ledgers
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and Word
  • Good time management, problem-solving skills and a flexible, hands-on approach
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a confident telephone manner
  • High attention to detail, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a calm, professional manner under pressure
