We are looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team on a contract basis near Richmond, Virginia. This position plays a vital role in overseeing financial operations, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations. As a key member of the leadership team, you will manage critical financial functions, including budgeting, reporting, and audits, while supporting the organization's long-term goals.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations
Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard organizational assets and ensure financial integrity
Oversee budget planning and development, including operating and capital improvement budgets, to align with organizational objectives
Lead the creation of detailed budget presentations and reports adhering to best practices recommended by the Government Finance Officers Association
Manage purchasing policies and supervise procurement activities to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards
Direct payroll operations to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee and board-related payments, including tax and retirement reporting
Coordinate and manage the annual financial audit process, compiling necessary reports such as the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
Analyze multi-year financial trends and provide actionable insights and funding recommendations
Develop and implement strategies for debt management, fixed assets oversight, and grant activity monitoring
Represent the organization on various boards and committees, presenting financial updates and recommendations as needed
Requirements:
Strong expertise in month-end closing processes and financial reporting
Proficiency in financial modeling and analysis to support strategic decision-making
Demonstrated ability to develop accurate forecasts and models for revenue and expenditure planning
Knowledge of Federal and State compliance requirements related to financial management
Experience in managing budgets, audits, and procurement processes
Skilled in overseeing payroll operations and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations
Familiarity with debt financing, grant activity, and fixed asset management
Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively collaborate with staff and stakeholders
