This is a fixed term role (initially 6 months). The Finance Manager will drive financial performance, ensuring the charity is in the best position possible at all times. Working closely with the CEO and Trustees, the role involves leading financial operations, providing insight for decision-making, and contributing to the growth of an organisation dedicated to transforming the lives of disabled children and young people through play.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the charity’s financial management, governance and control
Lead budgeting, reporting, risk management and day-to-day finance operations
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
Provide clear financial insight to support decision-making
Manage a small finance team
Contribute to organisational growth, including tendering activity
Oversight of IT and data security, working with external providers to ensure systems are secure and effective
Help shape and strengthen the finance function as the organisation evolves
Requirements:
Qualified accountant with at least three years’ experience in a financial or management accounting role, including hands-on preparation of budgets, year-end and published accounts, and working with auditors
Proven experience in a similar role, with the ability to manage day-to-day finance operations and lead a small team effectively
Strong financial modelling skills, confidence using Windows-based systems and databases, and the ability to improve processes and reporting
Excellent communication skills, able to build trusted relationships with trustees, senior leaders, auditors and a wide range of stakeholders
Understanding of, or commitment to learning about, the not-for-profit environment, including IT systems, project delivery and the challenges facing disabled children, young people and their families
