We’re looking for a proactive Finance Manager to join our outstanding team. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, providing hands-on financial oversight, supporting sustainable growth and operational efficiency ambitions. The role will be part-time, initially working 3 days a week, to increase to 3.5 days a week.
Job Responsibility:
Provide hands-on financial oversight, supporting sustainable growth and operational efficiency ambitions
Prepare high quality monthly reporting packs for both the Executive and the Board
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts including bank accounts, accruals, prepayments, payroll postings (payroll is outsourced), fixed assets and deferred/accrued income
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
Assist in preparing annual budget and monthly financial forecasts
Monitor variances and provide analysis to support business decisions
Ensure compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements
Prepare and submit VAT and PSA filings
Prepare financial data for inclusion in annual R&D tax claims
Monitor cash flow and working capital requirements
Ensure timely and accurate reporting and provision of documents to external auditors
Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets
Requirements:
ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
Minimum 3–5 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a service-based SME or similar environment
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations
Proficiency in accounting software (preferably Xero and add on tools such as Dext) and MS Excel
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Commercially aware with a proactive approach
Strong communication skills to interact with non-financial stakeholders
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
