Job Description:

Microsoft’s Corporate Accounting organization is looking for a highly motivated, collaborative accounting professional who enjoys synthexizing the complex, and working cross-functionally to join our Corporate Revenue Assurance team. Revenue Assurance focuses on defining policy, implementing accounting guidance, enhancing and consulting on revenue recognition controls and policies, researching revenue recognition questions, and analyzing and reporting financial results. This Finance Manager - Revenue Assurance will be focused on collaborating across the team to assess revenue recognition under ASC606 through the launch process. Key responsibilities include documenting accounting positions for new product launches and revenue contracts, supporting existing products launched through new programs, partnering with the revenue team on system changes and contributing to quarterly financial close activiites. This Finance Manager - Revenue Assurance position requires a collaborative, organized, and motivated individual who enjoys working with people to understand the business strategy and related processes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work across subject matter experts within the revenue recognition team, providing accounting guidance and consultations to business partners
  • Work with Finance, Business Planning, Business Operations and others to understand product roadmap and launch plans
  • Cordinate across the revenue team to determine appropriate revenue recognition for launches and perform testing to demonstrate the launch requirements are met
  • Key contributor to the evaluation of revenue recognition issues including writing accounting positions, testing system changes and performing quarterly close responsibilties
  • Educate business partners on revenue determinations
  • Provide expertise to special projects and other ad hoc requests

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 1+ year(s) accounting or finance experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting /Finance, or related field AND 2+ years accounting or finance experience OR equivalent experience
  • Professional accounting certification such as CPA or equivalent
  • 3+ years of related work experience, preferably with a mix of tech companies and public accounting
  • Software and Technology industry is a plus
  • US GAAP knowledge and experience with emphasis on ASC 606
