Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic finance leader to take ownership of inventory valuation, cost standards, and financial reporting in support of manufacturing and supply chain operations. Job Responsibility
Drive automation of operational finance reporting, including development of dashboards for accurate, real-time visibility into key metrics
Prepare clear financial summaries and present results to supply chain and operations leadership
Analyze financial results and provide actionable insights to business partners
Partner cross-functionally with operations, warehousing, materials, and purchasing teams to identify, implement, and measure cost-saving initiatives
Lead the cost accounting team across all related functions supporting business performance objectives
Delegate work, establish performance metrics, and guide the team toward achieving goals
Coach, mentor, and develop team members
Evaluate departmental processes and implement improvements to increase efficiency, optimize resources, and maintain accuracy
Provide financial visibility and performance analysis for manufacturing operations, aligning with business partners to improve results
Prepare budgets, review budget submissions, and support budget presentations
Assist manufacturing leadership with capital expenditure proposals
Investigate and report significant weekly variances, working with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and implement solutions
Oversee financial reporting for supply chain operations, including design, execution, and maintenance of inventory valuation processes across multiple entities
Establish and review cost elements including material, labor, overhead, perpetual inventory, and inventory reserves
Partner with domestic and international teams to ensure accurate material costing and monitor and forecast purchase price variances
Develop and implement regular reviews of bills of materials, routings, and other cost components to ensure costing accuracy
Establish and maintain reliable processes for allocating overhead across cost centers
Coordinate periodic and year-end inventory counts with inventory control teams and support audit readiness
Own the financial close process for inventory, cost of goods sold, freight, and distribution costs, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and account analysis
Support interim and annual audit activities by preparing and coordinating required financial information
Handle all information with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field required
MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred
At least 7 years of progressive cost accounting experience, including project leadership and deep technical expertise in costing concepts and systems
Prior experience leading, mentoring, and developing team members
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures, with subject matter expertise in cost accounting
Experience with ERP and database systems such as Oracle, along with advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Ability to work independently with limited supervision, while escalating unusual matters as needed
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, sound judgment, and strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to address sensitive issues tactfully and effectively
