Octopus Energy Group is the largest energy supplier for UK householders, with over 10 million customers worldwide and a multi-billion pound turnover. Our Gross Margin team supports the UK supply businesses within Octopus, parsing and analysing rich datasets to: Provide timely, accurate and insightful Gross Margin financial reporting at Month End and Year End; Provide analysis and insight and support other teams to improve margin (e.g. pricing of our innovative Time Of Use tariffs). The team also sits at the centre of our global Octopus Energy group, supporting our teams from New Zealand to the US with best practices, and helps to prepare for key industry changes like Market-Wide Half-Hourly Settlement.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop and inspire the incredible team of accountants who run our Gross Margin reporting
  • Build and prioritise our roadmap, and drive forward projects to improve the accuracy and scope of our reporting and analysis, balancing multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
  • Review month end financial reporting, and lead on year end audit from the Gross Margin team’s perspective
  • Business partner with various teams across the business and drive actionable insights from the Gross Margin reporting
  • Present results to the wider team and communicate clearly with senior management

Requirements

  • Financial experience (probably as an ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified accountant)
  • Data experience (especially of complex data pipelines and perhaps hands-on skills in SQL/Python)
  • Leadership and management experience
  • Energy industry knowledge
