Finance Intern

• Assist in preparing monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and long-range financial plans
• Build and update financial models to support revenue, margin, and expense planning
• Analyze budget vs. actual performance and identify key drivers of variances
• Support creation of monthly management reporting packages, dashboards, and KPI summaries
• Gather, validate, and synthesize data from multiple business units and systems
• Prepare ad-hoc analyses to answer leadership questions quickly and accurately
• Work with Operations, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Commercial teams to collect assumptions and validate inputs
• Help translate business initiatives into financial implications using zero-based budgeting principles
• Participate in meetings to understand operational drivers and cost structures
• Build and maintain Excel-based or Python-driven models to analyze trends (volume, pricing, mix, cost, productivity)
• Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses to support decision-making
• Improve model automation and streamline data flows where possible
• Support special projects such as pricing analysis, transformation savings tracking, headcount planning, or capital investment evaluations
• Assist in financial storytelling—turning data into insights and insights into recommendations
• Work with financial systems such as SAP, BPC, or Power BI
• Leverage advanced Excel/Sheets functions (Index/Match, SUMIFS, pivot tables, macros)
• Present findings and insights to FP&A managers and cross-functional leaders
• Document processes and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
• Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and attention to detail

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• familiarity with ERP systems is a plus
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to relate to and inspire confidence with sophisticated business groups
• A collaborative, professional, and proactive mindset and a high-level of confidentiality
• Must be able to work on-site at VGO’s Lexington, KY headquarters
