Job Description:

The City of Goodyear, Arizona is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Finance Director to help shape the financial future of one of the fastest growing and most innovative communities in the Southwest. In Goodyear, you won't just manage finances—you'll play a pivotal role in building a thriving, resilient community.

Job Responsibility:

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise the activities of the Finance Department including Accounting, Budget, Procurement, Utilities, and Community Facilities District (CFD) Administration
  • Serve as Treasurer of the City and the CFD's
  • Oversee budget preparation and facilitate the Executive Budget Committee and the Audit Committee
  • Analyze and monitor the City's financial condition
  • Develop and maintain effective communication between Finance Department and all City departments
  • Provide an environment that motivates, coaches, and mentors employees

Requirements:

  • Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration, management information systems, accounting or finance, or a related field
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience working in finance management, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility
  • Previous municipal finance experience in Arizona

Nice to have:

  • Master's degree
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate
