Job Description:

The town of Lunenburg is seeking a skilled and innovative municipal finance leader to serve as its next Finance Director/Town Accountant. Join a community that values collaboration, forward-thinking management, and strong financial stewardship. The town has an AA+ bond rating and an annual operating budget of $49M.

Job Responsibility:

  • Oversees all financial operations, including Accounting, Treasury, Collections, and Assessing
  • Ensures compliance with Massachusetts laws, by-laws, and GASB standards
  • Plays a central role in budget development, capital planning, borrowing, and long-term fiscal strategy for both town and School operations

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • five to seven years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, including significant experience in budgeting, staff supervision, and strategic financial planning
  • Public sector experience highly desirable
  • MUNIS experience strongly desired
  • or any combination of education and experience
