As part of our continued investment in strong financial governance, commercial insight and business performance, we are strengthening our Axis Finance function. We are recruiting a Finance Business Partner on a 12-month fixed-term contract (maternity cover) to support one of our operational divisions. Reporting to the Axis Commercial Finance Director, with a dotted line to the relevant Divisional Managing Director, this is a hands-on, commercially focused role, working closely with operational and commercial leaders to provide insight, challenge and support informed decision-making.
Job Responsibility:
Act as the dedicated Finance Business Partner to divisional operational and commercial leadership teams
Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, providing day-to-day financial support and challenge
Lead and coordinate budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning, aligned with Group FP&A frameworks
Prepare and present monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy of margins, WIP and accrued income
Deliver clear and insightful financial analysis and variance commentary (budget, forecast and prior year)
Provide analysis on customer and job profitability to support operational decision-making
Support business performance reviews with clear, actionable financial insight
Provide visibility and challenge around working capital, cash flow and aged debt, supporting cash collection
Maintain strong balance sheet control, including relevant reconciliations
Own and protect the integrity of divisional financial data
Identify financial risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation and value creation
Requirements:
Strong knowledge of management accounting principles
Proven experience leading budgeting and forecasting processes
Solid understanding of UK GAAP / FRS 102, including revenue recognition
Excellent business partnering skills, with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
Strong analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insight
Clear and confident communication skills across finance and operational audiences
Proven experience in a Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant or Finance Manager role
Nice to have:
Experience supporting operational or contract-led environments
Understanding of commercial contracts
Experience in property, construction or maintenance services
Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
