Job Description:

Interim Finance Business Partner role supporting a Local Authority on a 6-month basis. High-profile role making tangible impact across Place and Corporate Services (HR, IT, Procurement), helping drive financial sustainability and transformation. Acting as go-to advisor for senior stakeholders, providing insight and challenge to deliver strong outcomes for local communities.

Job Responsibility:

Supporting budget setting, monitoring, and forecasting across diverse service areas
Providing clear, strategic financial analysis that drives smarter decision-making
Challenging assumptions and influencing senior leaders to deliver efficiencies and value for money
Acting as a bridge between finance and operations – turning numbers into real-world impact
Managing a small team

Requirements:

Proven track record as a Finance Business Partner, ideally in local government
Strong technical finance skills with ability to simplify and communicate complex issues
Credibility and resilience to work in a political, fast-paced environment
Proactive, problem-solving approach
Experience managing a small team
Experience managing at Head of Finance level in a Local Authority setting
Experience of the Place directorate is highly desired
