An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and numerate individual to work within the Financial Services team. The role of the Capital Accountant is to provide support to the Head of Financial Services in all aspects of the Trust's capital programme, fixed assets and leases. You will maintain the Trust's fixed asset register, provide timely and accurate information with regard to the Trust's monthly capital expenditure position and contribute to the annual accounts process to ensure all reporting is in line with accounting standards and DoH guidance.
Job Responsibility:
To provide support to the Head of Financial Services in respect of all financial accounting aspects of the Trust's capital programme, fixed assets and leases
To provide accurate and timely monthly monitoring information in respect of expenditure against the Trust's capital programme
To maintain the trust's fixed asset register and provide accurate and timely information to the Head of Financial Services and Deputy Director of Finance
To support the Head of Financial Services by taking a lead on accounting for leases under IFRS 16 by maintaining the Trusts register of leases and ensuring the accuracy of financial records
To provide advice to colleagues in respect of the interpretation of IFRS16 regarding contracts and arrangements which may meet the definition of a lease
To ensure that all fixed asset transactions are recorded in an accurate and timely manner including additions, disposals, depreciation, revaluations and impairments
Requirements:
A' Levels or equivalent training or experience
Studying towards AAT technician or CCAB/CIMA qualification or have equivalent experience in a degree in a relevant subject
Experience in a financial environment
Experienced user of computer applications, in particular, having a good understanding of spreadsheets, email packages and computerised ledger systems
Nice to have:
Equivalent to part-qualified AAT Technician student
