Job Description

Finance and Operations Manager (Medical Technology) Macquarie Park, New South Wales Join a prominent, well-established global German medical technology company specialising in state-of-the-art surgical systems. Operating in over 110 countries with a history spanning more than 175 years, this family-owned organisation employs over 1,000 people globally and generates an annual revenue exceeding $250 million USD. As they transition from an offshore distribution model to establish their brand new Australian entity, they are building a high-performing local team from the ground up. Role Description This is an exceptional opportunity for a proactive, hands-on professional to step into a newly created foundation role as the first local hire for the Australian business. Sitting out of the regional hub, this unique position balances a diverse split of operational and financial responsibilities. You will have total ownership of a clean slate to manage day-to-day corporate finance whilst actively driving customer-facing operations, logistics, and order delivery execution. This role is a true springboard for growth, offering a direct and transparent pathway to step into the Head of Finance position within 12 to 18 months as the local team and operation expand. This is a permanent position based in Macquarie Park with a highly desirable hybrid structure of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. It offers a competive salary of $130,000-$150,000 + Super for the right candidate.

Job Responsibility

  • Full-Set Accounting: Own the local finance function from scratch, managing day-to-day accounting, month-end closing, and key financial reconciliations
  • Compliance & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive management financial reports and ensure strict adherence to local Australian statutory and tax compliance requirements
  • Process Optimisation: Audit operational workflows to handle 3PL inventory reconciliations, variance tracking, and automated data flows efficiently without growing back-office headcount
  • Customer & Order Management: Oversee order intake, processing, and seamless execution across sales and service departments, acting as a key point of contact for local customer accounts
  • Operational Engine: Manage the end-to-end order-to-cash pipeline, ensuring excellent service delivery and smoothing out workflows for both internal and external stakeholders
  • 3PL Logistics Coordination: Partner closely with third party logistics (3PL) warehouse providers to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, tracking delivery times and stock levels
  • External Advisory Liaison: Partner closely with external advisors to smoothly coordinate tax filing and internal or external audit processes
  • Strategic Alignment: Collaborate deeply with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, sales, and service to protect gross margins and align business priorities

Requirements

  • A degree in Finance or Accounting
  • At least 5 years of experience across finance and operational roles, ideally within the medical technology, device, or equipment manufacturing sectors
  • Proven hands-on experience navigating a corporate transition, business setup, or brand integration phase
  • Strong technical background in full-set accounting, financial reporting, and Australian tax requirements
  • Practical exposure to logistics coordination, supply chain operations, and 3PL inventory management
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel alongside exposure to modern accounting and ERP systems
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills with a robust, self-motivated nature
