Job Description:

In this role, you will be a key member of the Cash Management team, responsible for the daily forecasting of cash flows and ensuring the bank maintains sufficient collateral for the CAD Payment System. Your primary objective is to flatten the Bank’s settlement account with the Bank of Canada each night. This is a high-visibility opportunity for a finance professional to deepen their expertise in Treasury and Balance Sheet Management.

Job Responsibility:

  • Cash Flow Forecasting: Gather and analyze daily CAD and USD cash flow information from various internal sources to project accurate closing balances
  • Market Trading: Invest and fund the Bank’s CAD and USD accounts by trading in the end-of-day interbank market
  • Liquidity Management: Monitor and explain Intraday Liquidity usage and 'Start of Day' positions to ensure operational efficiency
  • Collateral Oversight: Ensure sufficient collateral levels are maintained to settle large, critical payment obligations
  • Investigation & Reconciliation: Investigate unexpected changes in cash balances to reconcile settlement positions with the Bank of Canada
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as a bridge between Cash Management, Intraday Liquidity, and Payment Teams to optimize real-time cash management and enhance system capabilities
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the team in industry forums and committees as required

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Business, Risk, or a related field
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in Finance, Treasury, or Payments
  • 3+ years of experience in trend analysis and advanced analytical thinking
  • Advanced knowledge of the MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight daily deadlines
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage interactions with strong personalities and diverse internal/external stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of AI tools is considered a strong asset
  • Strong new graduates with relevant internship experience or an accounting background may be considered
