Job Description:

Our growing firm is looking for an enthusiastic File Opening Clerk with experience, to join our Support team. BRM offer comprehensive legal services to businesses nationally. As one of the leading law firms in the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire region, we focus on providing bespoke legal advice, working closely together to deliver a professional and personalised service our clients can rely on. Job Responsibility:

  • Opening new client and matter files (physical and electronic) in accordance with firm procedures
  • Conducting conflict checks and making sure client identification and verification documentation is complete
  • Entering client and matter details accurately into the firm’s practice management system
  • Organising, labelling and maintaining physical files in proper order and secure storage
  • Uploading, scanning and indexing documents into the document management system
  • Communicating with lawyers, assistants, and other staff to obtain missing information or documentation
  • Maintaining confidentiality of all client and firm information at all times
  • Performing general administrative duties, including filing, photocopying, and data entry, as assigned

Requirements:

  • Secondary education, including Maths and English to grade for or equivalent
  • Post-secondary education in office administration or legal studies preferred
  • Prior experience in a law firm or legal environment is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and experience with legal practice management software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrating professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information
