We are looking for a detail-oriented Part Time File Clerk to support a long-term contract assignment in Fairfield, California. This position focuses on maintaining accurate paper records, reviewing files for retention or disposal, and helping keep document storage organized and compliant. The role is ideal for someone who works carefully with physical documents and can contribute reliably on a part-time schedule over the course of a 6-12 month project.
Job Responsibility:
Organize paper records and maintain orderly filing systems for easy retrieval and storage
Review documents and separate materials that must be retained from those approved for destruction according to record retention guidelines
Prepare file boxes and physical records for storage, tracking, or disposal as needed
Scan hard-copy documents and support accurate electronic filing of archived materials
Handle document sorting and labeling tasks with a high degree of accuracy and consistency
Transport records to offsite storage locations when required as part of the records management process
Support records retention activities at City Hall while following established handling procedures
Requirements:
Demonstrated experience working with paper filing and physical record organization
Strong attention to detail when reviewing, sorting, and categorizing documents
Ability to scan documents and maintain accurate electronic filing records
Familiarity with record retention practices and secure document handling
Comfortable lifting, moving, and organizing file boxes as part of daily tasks
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to offsite storage locations if needed
Availability to work 4-6 hours per week on either Thursday or Friday
