We are looking for a Field Technician to join a team delivering low-voltage and security system installations across project sites in North Charleston, South Carolina. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on field work and is comfortable supporting both new construction and retrofit environments. The role focuses on installing and servicing structured cabling, access control components, surveillance equipment, and network-connected devices while maintaining quality, safety, and accurate documentation. You will work closely with project leadership and field personnel to help complete installations, testing, and system startup activities.
Job Responsibility:
Install and support structured cabling infrastructure, including copper, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low-voltage systems used in commercial environments
Set up and connect field devices such as wireless access points, network switches, access control panels, electrified door hardware, and related IP-based equipment
Mount, wire, and configure analog and IP surveillance components, including cameras, recording hardware, and video management platforms
Build cable support systems and pathways to ensure installations are organized, secure, and aligned with site requirements
Complete terminations, testing, labeling, and documentation for horizontal and backbone cabling to support reliable system performance
Partner with lead technicians, project managers, and other field team members to execute installation plans and resolve on-site issues efficiently
Participate in system commissioning, functional testing, and final verification to confirm equipment operates as intended
Record daily progress, labor hours, and completed tasks while maintaining a clean and safe job site throughout the project lifecycle
Expand technical capabilities by learning new tools, standards, and installation methods, and provide guidance to less experienced technicians when needed
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent is required
Valid driver's license is required for travel to job sites
At least one year of experience in cable installation, field service, or a closely related technician role
Current certification in at least one access control, security, or comparable technical platform is required
Current certification in at least one structured cabling system is required
Working knowledge of access control systems, CCTV equipment, networking fundamentals, and low-voltage installation practices
Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documents, and to terminate and test category cable and fiber systems
Must be able to meet pre-employment screening requirements and perform physically demanding work, including lifting 25–50 pounds
