Under periodic supervision, performs varied tasks of moderate complexity requiring the application of standard procedures and criteria. Responsible for installation, decommissioning, and troubleshooting of network equipment and circuits. This includes fiber, transport equipment, and supporting infrastructure. Demonstrates a working knowledge of circuit provisioning, maintenance, and testing, DS1, DS3, SONET, test equipment, and telecommunications equipment installation and acceptance. Daily work will originate out of Pueblo, CO, with travel that may extend as far south as Wagon Mound, NM, as business needs require.
Job Responsibility
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs customer and network issues
Removes and replaces defective modules, tracks spares, and supports repair processes
Performs site surveys and installs, provisions, tests, and maintains a range of services and transport equipment
Responsible for asset management, including processing deliveries, maintaining consumables, and coordinating shipping and receiving of materials
Operates and maintains tools, test sets, and electronic equipment including fiber optic transmission equipment, multiplexing equipment, circuit termination equipment, and AC and DC power equipment
Performs preventative and scheduled maintenance and inspections on network equipment and supporting infrastructure
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED, or 1 year of relevant job experience
2 to 5 years of experience with installation, testing, and turn up of telecommunications equipment such as SONET, DCS, DWDM, routers, and switches
Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities
Ability to prioritize with good time management skills
A solid technical and mechanical aptitude with exposure to transport equipment and supporting infrastructure
Intermediate computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Office applications
On call rotation, standby, call out, dispatch, and overtime may be required
Valid driver license required
Ability to work in all weather conditions
