Amentum is seeking talented and dynamic technicians for employment as the SURTASS Field Support Technicians for the SURTASS program home based out of JEB Little Creek in Virginia Beach, VA. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) program by providing in port maintenance support, repairs services and support for SURTASS mission equipment during SURTASS ship in port periods and in-port availability periods.
Job Responsibility
Provide technical assistance to SURTASS mission systems to troubleshoot, repair, test, and return to service
Generate reports for SURTASS mission systems
Conduct refresher training (REFTRA) in accordance with the MRR manual and SURTASS O&M Technician CTQM
Participate in Mission Readiness Reviews planning, scheduling and execution
Review Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Engineering Changes (ECs), and Requests for Variance (RFV), and develop schedules for implementation
Utilize the trouble ticket application to log all maintenance trouble tickets for action
Review technical manuals, publications, and maintenance procedures, and provide recommended revisions to the Government
Conduct TL-29A System grooms and module balances
Perform equipment installation and training
Identify and report system/software design problems and deficiencies for SURTASS mission systems
Provide on-the-job training (OJT) technical training to O&M Technician Crewmembers
Support Physical Configuration Audits (PCAs), Functional Configuration Audits (FCAs), In Process Reviews (IPRs), and Integrated Logistics Overhauls (ILOs)
Perform Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) analysis of SURTASS mission system
Provide support to Government efforts in collecting and analyzing data for RMA
Report failure trends as seen during production, refurbishment, and repair efforts
Provide data to support the Government’s Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
Support and perform configuration management services for the SURTASS mission systems
Update and maintain Technical Data Packages (TDP) for all SURTASS mission systems
Perform exterior maintenance and preservation on SURTASS modular mission systems
Participate in inspections
Act as a liaison/coordinator with contract sponsors, TAGOS ships Master, sponsored ship riders, MILCREW, other SURTASS contractors, MSC, shipyard personnel and other government organizations
CONUS and OCONUS travel will be required
Able to accept scheduled and unscheduled CONUS and OCONUS assignments and extensions for up to 3 months with limited advance notice
Ability to work at sea on ships, work rotating shifts and possibly work more than 40 hours per week
Requirements
Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Technology, or technical related field with five or more years of experience
Additional years of experience, training, and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of degree requirement
Currently possess DoD Secret Clearance with ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret clearance level upon hire
Possess or ability to obtain a valid U.S. passport
Thorough understanding of COTS maintenance requirements, and open architecture implications as well as, understanding of the administration of the U.S. Navy Maintenance Material Management System (3M)
Ability to work under minimal supervision and provide training to shipboard assigned electronic maintenance technicians
Position may require the ability to perform in an arduous environment
Able to pass a mariner’s Physical per COMSCINST 6000.1.c and must maintain their medical fitness for the position
Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to obtain an international driving permit to drive on the left side of the road if needed
Nice to have
Graduate of US Navy electronics “C” school or equivalent civilian electronics technical school
Eight (8) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of SURTASS ARRAYS
Five (5) years of experience in the maintenance and repair of the SURTASS PROCESSING SUBSYSTEMS
Experienced in civilian and/or military operations
