Field Service Technician - Controls

• Develop and program software (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer requirements
• Troubleshoot controls and electrical equipment at the customer’s facility
• Report and correct abnormal equipment conditions and inaccurate actions by customer staff
• Work independently or as part of a team
• Ensure alignment of customer objectives with on-site work plan
• Support developing operating and troubleshooting knowledge of the operations team
• Review/suggest additional tools or equipment
• Make recommendations to repair/replace items
• Travel to both domestic and international customer locations for long and short-term support
• Lead on-site team and liase with customer and ATS Project Manager
• Coordinate third party vendors and assist to resolve technical issues
• Complete detailed Service Report for the services provided on a daily/weekly basis
• Be available to be on call on a rotational basis
• Communicate with internal and external customers to understand needs
• Facilitate warranty/non-warranty claims with the customer
• Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards
• Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures
• Adhere to all established procedures as defined by ATS Quality Procedures, Process Flows, Work Instructions, Safety Procedures, Policies and the Employee Expectations

• A post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in programming/electrical engineering or equivalent
• A minimum of four years of experience in a hands-on automation/controls environment
• 3+ years of experience programming Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Human/Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Allen Bradley or Siemens software
• Must be willing to travel to customer sites (50 to 75% per month)
• Good communicator, displays professionalism and has well-developed interpersonal skills
• Excellent understanding of pneumatic, electrical and multiple controls systems
• Ability to read drawings, reference manuals and systems instruction guides
• Must have experience and be proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to quickly gain knowledge to readily troubleshoot systems

Database/Robot/Vision experience is an asset
