As a Field Service Engineer at Valmet will primarily be responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities to support the Recovery Field Service (RFS) and Energy Field Service (EFS), for the North American teams. The Field Service Engineer will also support and adhere to Valmet Inc. Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) goals and directives. This position plays a critical role in supporting our customers operations and ensuring their equipment is running at optimal levels.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform process and field services for a wide variety of Pulp, Energy, & Circularity equipment and products
  • Support all field service activities
  • Support others in the field
  • Travel to the customer location to deliver critical hands-on support
  • Provide service for both planned and unplanned maintenance, or on an as-needed emergency basis
  • Completing Start-ups, Shut-downs, commissioning services, Inspections and Condition assessments
  • Work with cutting edge technology and tools
  • Maintenance and Service Agreements, Tune-ups, Troubleshooting
  • May include travel overseas to support targeted projects
  • Outage Planning and execution
  • Emergency assistance and root cause analysis
  • Support and adhere to Valmet Health, Safety, and Environmental goals and directives
  • Prepare and submit detailed service reports as directed in a timely manner
  • Work in a team environment with Field Service Engineers, Product Engineers, and Sales personnel
  • Develop relationships with key customers and conduct service sales visits

Requirements

  • Degree from college, university, or technical/trade school
  • or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Travel greater than 50% or more
  • International assignments may also be required
  • Paper industry experience of more than 5 year a bonus
  • Strong background in Boilers (Chemical Recovery and Power Generation), Woodyard, Evaporation, Lime Kiln, Pulp drying, and Recaust
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Strong PC skills

  • Provide third level, on-site support to resolve automotive technical and Techline issues as escalated through processes in place at the GM Technical Assistance Center and the FSE Dispatch Center
  • Respond immediately to dispatch cases for vehicle concerns that may lead to “vehicle down” or potential “repurchase” situations
  • Maintain a close working relationship with GM District Managers-Aftersales (DM-A), the Regional CAM and BRSM to review vehicles in repurchase jeopardy and seek creative ways to avoid buy-back
  • Work closely with the GM Business Resource Center (BRC) to respond to customers in your area that have contacted Customer Assistance asking for a repurchase of their vehicle
  • Utilize GM’s predictive analytics tool to get notifications of high repurchase potential vehicles in your assigned area and assist dealers quickly when one of these high-risk vehicles shows up at a dealer in your area
  • Review dealer comeback process on every dealer contact to determine it meets GM’s requirements
  • Help implement a comeback process for each dealer that does not have a robust process in place
  • Work with the GM West Regional team when help is needed to persuade dealers to implement changes
  • Review current Preliminary Information (PI) bulletins for known vehicle concerns with Dealer service personnel
  • Drive PI bulletin process by notifying TAC Escalation Team Agents (ETA) of authorized “field fix” information
