The Field Safety Technician provides daily safety support across a large, high-activity industrial construction environment with 500+ personnel on site. This role is primarily field-based and focuses on reinforcing safe behaviors, supporting permitting activities, and engaging with employees and contractors to uphold a strong safety culture. The technician works closely with all site teams to ensure safe execution of work and compliance with organizational safety standards.
Job Responsibility:
Serve as a visible safety presence in the field, coaching workers and promoting safe behaviors
Support the implementation of site safety programs and expectations
Participate in hazard identification walks, start-work checks, task-based risk assessments, and toolbox talks
Assist with the site’s permit-to-work processes, including elevated work, lifting operations, confined space entry, excavation, LOTO, and related high-risk activities
Identify and help resolve safety observations, concerns, and non-compliance issues
Conduct focused safety walks to monitor high-risk areas and ongoing operations
Participate in incident investigations as requested and support the documentation of events
Help manage safety recognition and rewards initiatives
Maintain consistent communication with employees, contractors, and leadership to ensure alignment and safe work execution
Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of safety experience in field or industrial settings
Associate degree or equivalent experience in Occupational Safety & Health
OSHA 30 and OSHA 510 (or higher-level safety training)
Hands-on experience with: Crane lifts and rigging
Confined space entry
Work at heights
Excavation activities
LOTO and permit-to-work processes
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including confidence speaking to groups
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Proven success working in fast-paced, high-stress environments with many simultaneous activities
Experience supporting large industrial projects (250+ personnel) strongly preferred
Valid TWIC card
Valid state-issued driver’s license and reliable transportation
Mandatory drug and alcohol screening (pre-employment and random)
