Job Description:

The Field Officer (Bin Education and Engagement Services) position in Rockhampton presents an opportunity for a self-motivated individual to contribute to improved waste and sustainability outcomes. The role involves conducting visual inspections of kerbside bins, engaging with residents, managing data entry, and participating in activities such as waste and recycling container inspections. Knowledge of kerbside waste services, basic Excel proficiency, and a Class C driver's license are required.

Job Responsibility:

Conducting visual inspections of kerbside bins
engaging with residents and the community to foster positive environmental behaviours
ensuring adherence to customer material processing requirements
managing data collection and entry
waste and recycling container inspections
detailed material segregation
collaborative sample collection.

Requirements:

Knowledge of kerbside waste services or a strong aptitude for acquiring this knowledge rapidly
willingness to undertake physical research projects, including early morning bin inspections and community education initiatives
reasonable level of computer literacy, encompassing basic Excel functions
confidence in verbal communication, including customer service and public engagement
ability to work both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
Class C driver's license
dedicated and reliable work ethic.

Nice to have:

Understanding of sustainability or the environmental field
interest in community education, behaviour change, and communication.
