The Field Merchandising Manager is responsible for increasing category gross profit through the selection of local suppliers, evaluation of new products, negotiation of pricing, and development of marketing strategies. Key categories may include General Merchandise, Lotto, Financial Services, Pre-Paid, and Non-Edible items as assigned. This role is accountable for leading the execution of merchandising plans at the site level within a business unit, while also collaborating with and supporting National and Business Area initiatives related to the category.
Job Responsibility:
Increase category gross profit through the selection of local suppliers, evaluation of new products, negotiation of pricing, and development of marketing strategies
Lead the execution of merchandising plans at the site level within a business unit
Collaborate with and support National and Business Area initiatives related to the category
Supervise or provide guidance to Junior Category Managers or other merchandising team members
Supports pilots/testing activities
Provide the local point of view to Business Area leadership based on marketplace understanding
Be an advocate for the customer across the category
Supports marketing
POP are executed across BU
Locally lead the execution of national schematics efforts with local assortment
Coordinate with and manage reset teams in all aspects
Own product launches locally
Support local partners and technical teams to troubleshoot customer facing issues
Foster positive relationships between the Business Area team, Business Unit team and Operational team
Coaches and mentors' Operational staff to merchandise product assortments
Collaborate and support Country and Business Area activities for the Category
Collaborates with Business Area for product forecasts and distributions
Monitors local competitor retail and makes recommendations appropriately
Oversees the local level of store layouts, category space allocation, product affinity/adjacencies
Recommends changes in products, service, and policy to the Business Area
Selects vendors, negotiates costs, terms for products, and develops schematics
Increases sales revenues by developing promotional concepts and overlay programs
Establishes and monitors gross margins by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas
Projects and measures category sales and gross profit results
Maintains local external vendor relations
Maintain professional and technical knowledge
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing determined Financial and Key Result Area targets
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in advertising, business, or related field preferred
Five years of experience or more preferred in merchandising
including experience in management responsibility
Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
May require up to 60% travel
Valid Driver’s License supported by a clean driving record
Must have well-developed verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate with other departments
Must be well organized and possess ability to handle multiple responsibilities under constant deadlines with a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
