CNS, a Congruex Company, is looking for a Field Locator to join our construction team. The Field Locator locates, identifies, and marks underground utilities using locating equipment, blueprints, and maps to protect the utilities from damage during excavation and construction.
Job Responsibility:
Receive work from dispatcher daily
Reads and understands job blueprints, work plans, and locate tickets noting existing utilities and other obstacles at the job site
Identifies and marks underground utilities using locating equipment, blueprints, and maps
Fill out necessary paperwork (jha, dig form, etc)
Gather correct construction and restoration materials and inspect crew truck daily
Determine utilities that must be potholed to achieve a safe bore path and pothole
Mix drilling fluid (mud) based on ground conditions observed when potholing
Plan bore and guide operator from entry pit to receive pit safely
Hookup correct package (set pulling eye in pipe, hook up swivel, shackle etc)
Watch pipe to make sure tailing are good and package is not under stress
Help sweep product into and set peds
Help clean up and restore area
When filling out the jha identity and make team aware of aware of people in the work area, traffic closer than 15’ from work area trip and fall hazards
Maintain locator and electronics
Determine passive traffic controls needed (cones)
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 1+ years experience
Must be available to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary
Working knowledge of blueprints, work plans, etc.
Ability to use mapping tools and other location information along with locating equipment to locate underground utilities including telecommunications, electric power, gas, oil, water, sewer, and cable TV systems, telephone, correctly, safely, and efficiently
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
Ability to speak effectively with customers, supervisors, and other employees
Ability to use basic math to calculate footages, measurements, prices, time card, etc.
Familiarity with construction terminology
Ability to do physical labor and digging
Ability to travel to job sites within an assigned area
Ability to work overtime, as needed
Possible evening and weekend work may be required as there may be call-outs
Must possess a valid Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Ability to adhere to company policy, regulations, procedures, and principles
Possesses necessary computer skills and proficiency to receive, open, and close work tickets
OSHA 10 certification
