That’s exactly what we’re doing at Convergence Group - and we’re looking for a hands-on, problem-solving Field Engineer to join us, working with customers across the North of England.

Job Responsibility

  • Build & Deliver - install WAN and LAN solutions (Ethernet, broadband, MPLS, Wi-Fi, etc.), prepare and stage equipment ahead of deployment, and get hands-on at customer sites bringing networks to life
  • Fix & Troubleshoot - act as the “boots on the ground” when issues arise, diagnosing hardware and software faults, restoring services quickly, and working closely with support teams and vendors to resolve more complex problems
  • Audit & Survey - visit customer sites to understand and document their existing setup, capturing key data such as firmware versions, serial numbers, and physical layouts, as well as carrying out Wi-Fi surveys to optimise coverage
  • Efficient task management and delivery – use ServiceNow to track and manage work, alongside network tools for monitoring, configuration, and testing

Requirements

  • 2+ years’ experience in a busy telecoms, IT, or data centre environment (field-based preferred)
  • Experience working directly with customers as an on-site engineer
  • CCNA (or working towards it), or similar vendor certifications (e.g. Fortinet, Extreme)
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Calm and confident in high-priority situations
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Able to pass BPSS, SC, and other clearances
