This role is a technical discipline manager or market practice area manager who coordinates with Project Managers to assign technical resources on projects in a manner that positively impacts the business and promotes a positive employee experience. This role has responsibility to ensure direct reports' utilization and billable rates are acceptable. Work at this level is also characterized by working on construction projects alongside the client, contractors, and architect/engineers.
Job Responsibility:
Provides construction consulting on program objectives and requirements
Provides input with proposals and Project Management Plans to provide accurate estimates for projects or programs
Provides overall coordination and management as the client representative on a construction projects from pre-construction, construction and close-out
Studies and understands the requirements of project contract documents for a variety of projects
Oversees the construction phases of work including quality control, constructability, completeness providing regular updates to the Project Manager (PM) and/ or design team
Provides direction to Architect's Consultants during the course of construction
Completes reports and transmits meeting minutes, punch list, RFIs, change orders and pay applications
Attends various client meetings- presents specific aspects of construction assignments
Works to reduce department projects costs to drive competitive status
Facilitates resolution of project issues that occur during the course of construction
Develops and builds positive relationships with clients, direct reports, officials, contractors, and others
Assists Project Managers (PM) and/or design professional with their duties on assigned projects
Performs other duties as requested
Manages a smaller group of employees
This role will have talent management responsibilities for a group of individuals including, but not limited to selection, development, and coaching for improvement
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of design, construction, or other relevant experience
Experience with Department of Transportation rules & regulations in Tennessee or elsewhere
