Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Fiduciary Tax Manager to lead tax compliance activities for a diverse book of trusts, estates, foundations, and retirement accounts in Boston, Massachusetts. This role is central to ensuring accurate filings, sound interpretation of governing documents, and timely responses to fiduciary tax matters. The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge, strong judgment, and the ability to work closely with internal partners and external advisors in a deadline-driven environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Direct the end-to-end tax reporting cycle for a broad portfolio of fiduciary entities, ensuring filings are completed accurately and on schedule
  • Oversee the preparation and final review of federal and state fiduciary returns, along with associated informational forms and supporting documentation
  • Analyze trust and estate instruments to determine proper tax treatment, including matters related to transfer tax considerations
  • Evaluate quarterly and annual tax obligations, confirm estimated payments, and track ongoing compliance deadlines across multiple accounts
  • Work closely with trust administration and other fiduciary partners to resolve tax questions and support account-specific planning needs
  • Serve as a point of contact for tax agencies by addressing notices, responding to inquiries, and helping bring outstanding issues to resolution
  • Maintain strong oversight of fiduciary tax data, documentation, and reporting processes to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Tax, or a related discipline
  • advanced tax education or comparable relevant experience is valued
  • Demonstrated experience managing fiduciary, estate, trust, and gift tax matters in a relevant setting
  • Strong ability to interpret legal and governing documents related to trusts and estates and apply the appropriate tax rules
  • Hands-on familiarity with fiduciary tax preparation and review, including federal and multi-state filings
  • Proficiency with fiduciary tax software and related reporting tools is preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines effectively
