This postdoctoral position supports research on the modeling, control, and optimization of inverter-penetrated power systems. The postdoc will work as part of the Intelligent Power (IP) Lab, led by Dr. Buxin She in the Mike Wiegers Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct research on modeling, control, and optimization of inverter-dominant power systems
Advance research and projects in areas such as advanced IBR control, dynamics-informed planning and operation, and AI-enabled grid automation
Produce high-quality technical outputs
Requirements:
Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Ph.D. research and dissertation in the area of power systems or power electronics
Strong expertise optimization, control, or AI, with a focus on power system applications
Advanced proficiency in coding and power system simulation tools
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality technical publications
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
Nice to have:
Strong expertise in at least one core domain—optimization, control, or AI—and a background in either power systems or power electronics, with an emphasis on system-level modeling and analysis
Experience with strong coding skills (Python, Julia, and/or MATLAB), power system simulation tools for EMT, phasor-domain, and dispatch/market studies, and strong technical writing skills
