Job Description

We are looking for an experienced FAR/DFARS Contracts Manager to join an environmental organization in Denver, CO on a contract-to-hire capacity. This hybrid opportunity (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) is designed for someone who can oversee government contract activities with confidence, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail. The role works closely with program, finance, legal, and leadership teams to guide contract strategy, support compliance, and protect the company’s interests throughout the contract lifecycle.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee federal agreements from initial review through award, administration, changes, and final closeout while keeping activities organized and on schedule
  • Examine contract terms across prime awards, subcontracts, non-disclosure agreements, teaming arrangements, and vendor documents, and negotiate language that balances compliance with business objectives
  • Evaluate solicitation and proposal materials to identify contractual concerns, highlight obligations, and recommend practical approaches to reduce risk before submission
  • Administer modifications, task orders, amendments, and other contract updates, ensuring documentation is accurate and aligned with applicable requirements
  • Apply federal contracting regulations, including FAR and DFARS, to daily contract management activities and advise internal stakeholders on related obligations
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready contract files in accordance with company procedures and government contracting standards
  • Partner with legal, procurement, finance, and program teams to resolve contract issues, clarify requirements, and support successful execution of awarded work
  • Assess contractual exposure and present clear, business-focused guidance to management on risk, compliance, and negotiation strategy
  • Contribute to internal and external audit activities by preparing records, answering contract-related questions, and supporting corrective actions when needed

Requirements

  • At least 3-5+ years of experience managing contracts within a federal government contracting environment
  • Working knowledge of FAR, with DFARS familiarity strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to draft, review, interpret, and negotiate a broad range of contract documents
  • Experience handling multiple priorities simultaneously in a deadline-driven setting
  • Understanding of procurement tools or contract management systems used in government contracting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across legal, finance, procurement, and program teams
  • High level of organization and attention to detail when maintaining records and reviewing complex agreements
  • Background in project controls is preferred
