Job Description:

The FAST Labs Campaign Director will lead the shift to mission-focused campaigns in the FAST Labs Business Area in the BAE Systems Electronic Systems Sector, reporting directly to the Vice President/General Manager of FAST Labs. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a shift to mission-focused campaigns across the FAST Labs business area. The Campaign Director will have responsibility for coordinating the work of product-line based campaign leads spanning multiple locations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the shift to mission-focused campaigns in the FAST Labs Business Area
  • Lead the shaping and communication of mission campaigns
  • Partner with internal ES Mission Integration Cell and FL Mission Assessments (MA) teams to help define descriptions of current and future threats, as well as current and projected future Blue force design and strategy. Develop strategic Red/Blue architectures in terms understandable to technologists
  • Support MA on defining key analytical tasks to help identify technology needs. Guide design of experiments for sensitivity analysis to define technology needs
  • Develop and execute a plan to communicate strategic architecture and threat to technologists. Develop an education and training approach to put operational trends, needs, and limitations in terms relevant to technology development and fielding
  • Provide insights into the complexities of employing and sustaining new technologies in an operational setting. Educate program teams of higher-maturity capabilities on these realities and help them develop their own campaigns to lead to fieldable programs of record
  • Possess a deep understanding of the government acquisition system and communicate this to program teams. Leverage this insight to help program teams develop new business models to transition and mature their capabilities faster and more adaptively. Help teams find interim government customers to support development of these business models and other transition experiment, bridging the gap between S&T and a traditional PEO
  • Develop and foster an entrepreneurial mindset throughout the organization for developing and executing strategies to rapidly and consistently develop impactful technologies and products and getting those technologies and products across the valley of death
  • Develop the approach and skills needed for strategic operational architecting, the art of converting operational problems into a mesh of inter-connected technical capability solutions. Develop the training methods to teach this type of thinking to FL scientists and engineers
  • Develop a cadre of strategic operational architects, the key contacts within Product Lines who will execute mission campaigns for their programs. Train and develop them for campaign thinking and build them into an integrated team. Lead and encourage campaign collaboration across Tech Areas and Product Lines to facilitate integrated mission campaign development and execution. Train the trainers to enlist them in further propagation of this thinking within their PLs

Requirements:

  • >15 years of technical and management experience across Research and Development, Engineering Manufacturing and Development, Production, and fielding for the Defense and/or Intelligence markets
  • Ability to think strategically and formulate a strategic vision and strategies, as well as implement actions needed to achieve goals in a changing environment
  • Capability to lead execution and rollout for new strategic initiatives, including leading organizations through complex culture change
  • Business and technical leadership, management, and decision making in technology development efforts
  • Strong customer focus, marketing, influencing, and shaping with a demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships across a broad network of customers spanning the highly technical, programmatic, government bureaucratic, and operational users
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the customer community and the corporate community
  • Business development mindset with in-depth experience in the development of growth strategies
  • Proven ability to share and transfer know-how across organizational boundaries
  • Competent in talent management and development, performance management, mentoring, coaching, and team communications
  • Ability to achieve results through others and develop leaders in an organization
  • Eligible for US Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, operations research, mathematics or physics
