Job Description

The Farm Stand Manager will be working at the Chatham Bars Inn Farm, located on Route 6A in Brewster, MA. This facility produces high quality sustainably grown vegetables for use at several restaurants located at the Chatham Bars Inn resort in Chatham, MA.

Job Responsibility

  • Managing farm stand staff members, to include hiring, training, coaching, disciplinary actions, terminations, scheduling, payroll, and all other management functions
  • Responsible for filing permits for farm dinners and all farm events with the relevant authorities (town, state of MA) in a timely manner
  • Responsible for planning and executing our signature public events, Tomato Fest & Fall Frolic in coordination with the marketing & food and beverage department
  • Managing day-to-day display & retail operations for a small high-volume farm stand
  • Collaborating with the harvest coordinator and farm manager to ensure a constant supply of fresh vegetables to the farm stand
  • Participate in pro-active planning to determine most popular vegetable selections and display methods
  • Maintaining the health of nursery stock and plants for sale
  • Positively engaging with our loyal customer base
  • Assist with promoting and marketing the farm-stand
  • Neatly packing, labeling, packaging all vegetables to the exacting standards of the Chatham Bars Inn
  • Maintaining a clean, neat, and well-organized retail display area
  • Maintaining accurate sales records and bookkeeping practices
  • Manage a diverse crew to ensure speed, efficiency and quality standards are upheld

Requirements

  • Previous retail management experience is preferred
  • Basic math and bookkeeping skills required
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to manage a diverse crew of farm stand workers
  • Calm and positive attitude, even when working under stressful conditions
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and neat appearance
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
