Job Description:

The Farm Stand Attendant will be working at the Chatham Bars Inn Farm, located on Route 6A in Brewster, MA. This facility produces high quality sustainably grown vegetables for use at several restaurants located at the Chatham Bars Inn resort in Chatham, MA. Candidates with a strong passion for sustainable agriculture and experience farming are preferred.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assisting with day-to-day harvest, display & retail operations for a small high-volume farm stand
  • Collaborating with the farm stand supervisor to ensure a constant supply of fresh vegetables to the farm stand
  • Maintaining the health of nursery stock and plants for sale
  • Positively engaging with our loyal customer base
  • Neatly packing, labeling, packaging all vegetables to the exacting standards of the Chatham Bars Inn
  • Leave each shift with a tidy work area, including both the farm stand and back of house work stations and storage areas
  • Communicate with the harvest manager inventory needed for same-day sales and next-day sales
  • Participate in the tracking system of outside vendor items to ensure clear communication on when items need to be reordered
  • Maintaining a clean, orderly and well-organized retail display area
  • Maintaining accurate sales records and bookkeeping practices
  • Maintaining quality standards and ensuring that all products leaving the farm meet the impeccable standards of the Chatham Bars Inn Farm
  • Transport and delivery of farm products will also be required
  • Participate in general farm-hand duties as necessary

Requirements:

  • Previous farm experience is preferred
  • Previous retail experience desired
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Calm and positive attitude, even when working under stressful conditions
  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude and neat appearance
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work under challenging ergonomic conditions, including work that requires frequent crouching, bending, kneeling, and lifting
  • Ability to regularly lift loads of 50 pounds or more
  • Must be able to work outside in all climates
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to work weekends and holidays
  • Valid Driver’s License is required
