Job Description:

The London Borough of Merton is seeking a proactive and committed Family Wellbeing Practitioner (Unqualified) to join their Children, Schools and Families Department within the Family Wellbeing Service. This is a rewarding frontline role where you will work directly with children, young people (0–25), and their families to provide targeted early help and intervention. You'll support families with complex needs, helping them make sustainable changes and improve outcomes.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage a caseload of families with multiple and complex needs
  • Undertake whole-family assessments and develop tailored support plans
  • Act as a lead professional, coordinating multi-agency support
  • Deliver 1:1 and group-based interventions to families
  • Work in partnership with services including education, health, housing, and social care
  • Support families with challenges such as: Safeguarding and child protection concerns
  • School attendance and routines
  • Domestic abuse, mental health, or substance misuse
  • Employment, budgeting, and housing issues
  • Chair and contribute to multi-agency meetings (e.g. Team Around the Family)
  • Maintain accurate case records and meet performance standards

Requirements:

  • Has experience working with children, young people, and families
  • Can engage and build strong, trusting relationships
  • Has knowledge of safeguarding, early help, and child development
  • Is confident working in a multi-agency environment
  • Demonstrates strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
  • Holds (or is working towards) a Level 3 qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Health & Social Care, Youth Work, Early Years)
