Job Description:

Join a supportive team providing essential support to families across Western Australia. HelpingMinds is seeking a dedicated and experienced Family Support Counsellor to provide professional, client-focused support to families navigating mental health challenges. In this vital role, you will work directly with children, young people, and adult carers, providing therapeutic support, while contributing to a positive, connected , and supportive workplace culture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide a counselling service to young people (0-18) at risk of developing mental health issues and adult carers, including Aboriginal and culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) carers
  • Employ both a brief intervention model for working with clients as well as therapeutic interventions where appropriate for the support HelpingMinds offers
  • Establish self-help Support Groups for Carers and provide support to the group once it is established
  • Develop wellbeing care plans with clients and utilising a strengths-based approach, discuss the issues and impact of mental health and apply goal setting and identifying support networks

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work
  • Current Drivers License
  • Proof of Australian Working Rights
  • National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
  • Working with Children Card
  • Current First Aid Certificate
  • Ability to work one evening shift per week (Wednesdays 11:30am to 7:36pm)
